Project Outline

Takubo Engineering Co., Ltd., the owner of the Togane Technical Center, is a leading engineering company that provides a wide range of services related to coating robots and coating systems for industrial products, including system development, design, manufacturing and sales, both domestically and internationally. Reflecting Takubo's ongoing environmental commitments, the building was developed as a R&D center with a design concept that provides the tangible effects of environmental load reduction in an effort to showcase the company's strong philosophy and environmental protection activities, both to the public and within the company itself. A variety of design features were included in order to create a user-friendly, comfortable building that combines architectural and functional aspects. These include a unique curved exterior for thermal load reduction in the building envelope, skeleton-design office space that smoothly incorporates natural ventilation and natural lighting and an open ceiling design for the production area that connects visual, wind and light elements. As a result, an analysis on annual energy consumption found that the center's CO2 emissions level was reduced by 50% in comparison with benchmark figures for general office buildings.

These cases are described based on assessment results obtained using CASBEE.
CASBEE is a method for rating the environmental performance of buildings using Building Environmental Efficiency (BEE) as an indicator, which is based on the results of separate scores obtained for Q-1~Q-3 (Quality) and LR-1~LR-3 (Load Reduction).
