Project Outline

The new Marunouchi Building is the leading project in the Marunouchi Reconstruction Program. Here, we are aiming to reduce environmental load over the lifetime of a building from demolition to planning, design, execution, management and deployment. In terms of increasing lifespan, our own aseismic structure system is helping to extend the life of the skeleton, while efforts such as securing replacement spaces as a measure for renewal works, duplicating principal pipework, securing large and small machine hatches, renewal conductors, etc., also contribute to prolonging serviceable life. We also feel that paying consideration to the surrounding area and creating spaces that can remain popular for a long time are indispensable to ensuring long life. As environmental measures during demolition and construction, we have also attempted to recycle construction waste and ensure zero-emissions construction. Environmental measures now in operation are wide-ranging. They include the energy-saving equipment introduced here, as well as efforts aimed at support systems and more effective distribution in order to manage and operate equipment with high efficiency, recycling of waste arising from deployment of the building, and so on.

These cases are described based on assessment results obtained using CASBEE.
CASBEE is a method for rating the environmental performance of buildings using Building Environmental Efficiency (BEE) as an indicator, which is based on the results of separate scores obtained for Q-1~Q-3 (Quality) and LR-1~LR-3 (Load Reduction).
